83. Restructuring Investment Banker, Special Situations/Distressed Desk

Our client, a large financial institution in New York City that uses its balance sheet to invest, would like to find a Restructuring Investment Banker to join their highly regarded Special Situations/Distressed Desk to focus on investing in the stressed and distressed credit markets. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 6 years of experience in Restructuring Advisory from a top tier investment banking team. The Analyst needs experience modeling complicated restructurings and reorganization scenarios and the ability to present the analysis coherently. The role requires a deep understanding of how various credit agreements work together. In addition to taking principal and activist positions in distressed names, the Analyst will collaborate with sales and/or sourcing teams, and work across product areas. The role involves external work with clients, management teams, bankers, and legal advisors to stay current with relevant credits. The Analyst will build financial models and conduct investment due diligence, perform valuation, credit document review, and industry analysis. The Analyst will also monitor bankruptcy dockets and other news sources to keep the trading and sales teams up to date with critical information.

The strongest candidate has outstanding fundamental credit skills, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to develop a deep understanding of a credit and the investment process. Candidates must be able to convey information effectively to a wide range of personalities so an affable personality would be helpful.
