76. Special Situations/Distressed Desk Analyst

Our client, a large financial institution in New York City that uses its balance sheet to invest, is seeking a Special Situations Desk Analyst to focus on high yield, stressed and distressed markets. This is a career-track opportunity with the possibility of developing into a revenue-generating Senior Analyst on the team. As part of the leading team among the desks, the Analyst will collaborate with sales and/or sourcing teams, and work across product areas. The role involves external work with clients, management teams and financial legal advisors to maintain up-to-date analysis of relevant credits. The Analyst will build financial models, conduct investment due diligence including valuation, perform credit document review and industry analysis. The Analyst will also monitor bankruptcy dockets and other news sources for new information to keep the trading and sales teams up to date with relevant critical information.

Candidates should have 4 to 7 years of total experience including investment banking and buy side public credit experience from a hedge fund or prop desk. Our client will also consider restructuring investment bankers from top tier firms. The strongest candidate will have strong fundamental credit skills, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to develop a deep understanding of a credit. Knowledge of the restructuring process is a plus. Candidates should have the ability to communicate effectively as well as have strong time management and interpersonal skills.
