Associate, Opportunistic Credit Fund – New
Our client, a well-established, multi-billion dollar, opportunistic credit fund would like to add an Associate to their NYC team. The candidate will focus on analyzing and supporting the execution of private investments and opportunistic secondary purchases in debt and equity for the firm’s special situations and tactical strategies. Our client has a multi sector focus with a broad mandate across corporate lending, specialty finance, and real assets. The Associate will have the opportunity to be involved in sourcing private and secondary traded opportunistic sub-investment grade credit and equity investments. The Associate will create dynamic financial models to value investments, project returns, and perform scenario analysis, conduct primary due diligence, and industry research on potential investment opportunities, create, assist and oversee investment memoranda and present to internal committees, as well as manage and monitor existing investments.
Candidates should have 4-6 years of total experience, including 2-3 years of buy side experience in special situations, private credit/direct lending and opportunistic secondary credit investment plus the completion of an investment banking analyst program (restructuring or M&A preferred.) The strongest candidates will have a general familiarity with bankruptcy/legal issues and relevant documentation. Candidates should have a strong desire to develop and expand network relationships within the investment community. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with significant modeling and accounting experience is required. Candidates must have the ability to construct concise, persuasive verbal and written investment opinions in timely manner.
