56. Business Developer, Higher Education Investment Bankers/Energy Solutions (Remote)

Our client provides innovative turnkey Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS) solutions to universities to promote a sustainable future. They are looking to add bankers to their team to oversee the continued growth of their reach. The team puts together partnerships with private universities that balance the institutions’ key infrastructure objectives with their expertise, to create long term energy solutions. The business developer will source and drive the structuring of green and brownfield energy infrastructure programs for universities, collaborating across leadership, development, and internal and third-party teams. The business developer will quarterback and own a development cycle from origination, through development and negotiation to commercial operation. The role requires the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams to inform their structuring and negotiations. The business developer will put together financial models and decks as part of the pitch process. The business developer will also build close relationships with target private universities nationally and will spend about 30% of the time traveling. The role requires the ability to be a problem solver, think strategically and to execute that strategic vision. The strongest candidates may come from a variety of backgrounds: Municipal Advisors, Public Finance Senior Associates or VPs with a focus on Higher Education, Investment Banking Senior Associates or VPs with expertise in Project Finance, Infrastructure, or Power. Candidates should be adept at reviewing and building economic and credit models. Experience in accessing capital markets is a strong plus. An ability to understand accounting concepts and tax code impacts, negotiating infrastructure arrangements, and incorporating legal factors would be helpful. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to collaborate while driving and building consensus with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
