32. Principal, Distressed Credit (New Jersey) – New

Our client is a major financial institution with access to substantial stable capital through a variety of credit funds. The firm would like to add a Principal level, senior investment professional to expand its distressed investment activity in loans and bonds. The fund can take an active position on a creditor committee, with a goal of controlling the process as well as smaller positions in middle market companies. The distressed debt team oversees the workout and restructuring of existing positions in loans and bonds across the portfolios with a goal of creating value by generating returns and not just recoveries.

The Principal will originate ideas and manage the investment process day to day, including getting into restricted groups and working with advisors and attorneys. The strongest candidates have 10-25 years of direct experience investing in distressed credit at a hedge fund or on an active prop desk. This is not an internal workout/restructuring role and bankers will not receive consideration. Candidates must have demonstrated distressed public markets experience, in-depth knowledge of bankruptcy law and a robust Rolodex of contacts among advisors, lawyers, and other parties to the distressed investment process. The role will allow the incumbent to take considerable responsibility and grow within the organization. The office is easily accessible from NYC and a short walk from public transit. The team follows a hybrid work schedule. Qualified candidates may forward a resume to our website. All inquiries will be treated confidentially.
